The Very Hungry Caterpillar, Little Cloud and The Mixed-up Chameleon by award-winning children's book illustrator and writer, Eric Carle, retold on stage in black light. The Very Hungry Caterpillar follows the wonderful adventures of a very tiny and very hungry caterpillar that progresses through an amazing variety of foods towards his eventual metamorphosis into a beautiful butterfly. Children will delight in the antics of Little Cloud. High up in a beautiful sky, Little Cloud slips away from the rest and transforms itself into various shapes of things it sees - a sheep, and airplane, a shark and more. In The Mixed-Up Chameleon, a little chameleon is bored with its life - sitting about predictably changing colour all day. So it decides to embark on an adventurous trip to the zoo. Upon seeing the beautiful animals there, the little chameleon tries changing to look like each one of them. > More Information & Pictures > Mermaid Welcomes Millionth Spectator PDF

Little Nutbrown Hare loves Big Nutbrown Hare as far as he can reach and as high as he can hop. But Big Nutbrown Hare loves him as far as his long arms can reach and as high as his strong legs can hop. And so it continues... Mermaid Theatre of Nova Scotia adapts "Guess How Much I Love You", the award-winning classic from author Sam McBratney and illustrator Anita Jeram.
In "I Love My Little Storybook", an eager little bunny lies on the grass and opens his book, and within moments, the story he's reading comes alive in fascinating detail. From illustrator Anita Jeram comes this endearing celebration of the joy of reading.

When Dinosaurs Dance by Moonlight is a whimsical tale of a young boy who meets a collection of extraordinary dinosaurs who parade by his window at bedtime. He's frightened but fascinated, and soon becomes a welcome member of the gathering.
Each dinosaur is distinctive, amusing, fanciful - and anatomically accurate.

Leo Lionni's exquisite collage works are ideally suited for Mermaid’s unique approach to stage adaptation. The three Caldecott Honor books Mermaid has chosen for its tribute, SWIMMY, INCH BY INCH and FREDERICK, are among Lionni’s most beloved works. Their images are strikingly beautiful, and their texts are whimsical yet wistful.

Swimmy is a tiny
insignificant fish in the vast ocean who uses ingenuity to fend off danger.
Frederick, a mouse who is a poet from the tip of his nose to the end of his
tail, makes everyday life an artful experience. The story of Inch by Inch
features a lovable inchworm who is very proud of his facility for measuring
absolutely everything, including a robin's tail, a flamingo's neck, a
toucan's beak, a heron's legs, and a nightingale's song.
All these creatures
provide wonderful scope for translation to puppet theatre through the gentle
storytelling style which has brought international acclaim to Mermaid
Theatre. The approach to staging will follow in the elegant tradition of
THE VERY HUNGRY CATERPILLAR and GUESS HOW MUCH I LOVE YOU.
