Technical Specification Sheet
Time period: Approximately 50 minutes, plus a 10 minute
question and answer period.
Physical requirements:
• Auditorium, stage or gym floor: 30’ wide x 30’ deep x 15’ high (minimum). These dimensions refer to unimpeded
space, free of hanging lights or heating ducts.
• A darkened auditorium is preferred .
• Dressing room or substitute adjacent to backstage with private
washroom for the company’s sole use one hour
before the show and up to one hour afterward.
• The availability of cold fruit juices and access to
a coffee maker would be greatly appreciated.
Access:
• Set up: approximately two hours (including 1/2 hr house)
• Take-out: up to 60 minutes
• Playing areas and dressing room should be cleared to
allow the company to set up immediately upon arrival.
• Stage should be swept.
• Mermaid’s stage manager will telephone
the venue in advance of the engagement to confirm the
company’s arrival time and to answer any questions.
• Loading doors should be cleared for access
• Schools are requested to turn off all PA and airconditioning
systems during the performance period.
• No food or beverages should be permitted in the theatre
Electrical & Sound Lighting:
• General wash
Requirements: The company requires three 15 amp wall outlets for its own
equipment. In houses seating more than 500 persons, the
company will use the house sound system, and requests
the services of a technician.
Assistance:
• For performances in schools and community centres, we
would appreciate having a building maintenance person
on hand to consult on technical requirements. We would
also welcome several loading assistants prior to and following
the shows. Technical crew, including loaders, is mandatory in
theatres.
Seating:
• Questions regarding flexible seating arrangements may be
directed to the stage manager immediately upon the company’s arrival.
Important:
• In the interest of safety, we would appreciate having the audience
away from the performance and working area once the show is
underway as our equipment and set pieces are fragile. However,
supervised visitors are most welcome at the close of the show. Cameras and videocameras are prohibited during the performance.
