Our Youtheatre today operates with a province-wide reach and a diverse base
of support from all three levels of government, from corporations and
foundations and from an eclectic mix of social agencies devoted to teenage
well-being.
Our mandate remains unchanged:
"To provide a forum for Nova Scotia¹s teenage community; To explore and
express their realities through the creation of original performance
material; To present theatre which promotes awareness and facilitates
positive change."
Partnerships are at the heart of our Youtheatre and represent an astounding
diversity. A few of the many examples are: the RCMP, HRSDC, the Kids Help
Foundation, the Gordon Foundation for Children and Youth plus Health Boards
and School Boards around Nova Scotia. Corporate support is also crucial and
has included Imperial Oil, TD Bank, Eastlink and Home Hardware plus a host
of local sponsors.
Together with our many partners and funders, our teenage drama groups have
tackled relevant community themes from teen suicide to smoking and from gang
violence to ADHD to sleep depravation. We¹ve also created contemporary
comedy and dance as well as summer school fantasies. We¹re confident our
work will continue to resonate with young audiences this year and in the
years ahead.
